Three craft spots in Iran registered by WCC

Iranian cities of Marivan and Sirjan as well as the country’s Kalpourgan village have been registered for well-known handicrafts by the World Crafts Council.

According to a recent local media report, inscriptions were made for Klash handmade footwear in Kermanshah Province’s Marivan, Kilims (flat tapestry-woven rugs) in Kerman Province’s Sirjan as well as the pottery in Sistan and Baluchestan Province’s KalpourganBahman.

Namvar-Motlaq, an official attached to the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran, told media about the new development that Iran with six global cities as well as one global village stood atop the world’s handcrafts” in terms of the number of its cities and villages registered by the World Crafts Council.

The World Crafts Council-Asia Pacific Region (WCC-APR) forms the largest and most active part of the World Crafts Council (WCC). As it is the Daughter Organization of the Mother Organization, the World Crafts Council (WCC), it carries its traits of being a non-government with a NGO status at UNESCO.

Mashhad, Lalejin, Isfahan and Tabriz have already been recorded as the world cities by the WCC.
